Glyph Runner ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information: Your email address, display name, and username when you create an account.
• GPS location data: Your precise location, collected only during an active run session. Location tracking stops immediately when you end or pause a run.
• Run data: Distance, duration, pace, shape traced, tokens earned, and completion status for each run.
• Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostic and support purposes.
• Usage data: In-app interactions such as routes viewed, shapes selected, and features accessed, used to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service
• Render your GPS route as a visual artwork during and after runs
• Calculate distance, token earnings, and milestone achievements
• Send transactional emails such as account verification and password resets
• Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve features and performance
• Enforce our Terms of Service and protect the integrity of the Service

4. Location Data

Location data is the core of what makes Glyph Runner work. Here is exactly how we handle it:

• Active runs only: GPS is accessed only while a run is in progress. We do not collect location data in the background, when the app is closed, or when you are not actively running.
• Route rendering: Location coordinates are used to trace your route path and render it as GPS artwork.
• Distance calculation: Location data is used to measure the distance of your run and calculate token earnings.
• Storage: Your route path is stored on our servers associated with your account so you can view past runs. It is not shared with third parties for advertising.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
• With your consent: We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and run history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data and account. You can initiate this directly in the app or by emailing us.
• Portability: Request your run data in a portable format.
• Objection: Object to processing of your data for certain purposes.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), Firebase security rules that restrict data access to authenticated users, and administrative access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, cloud database (Firestore), and app hosting. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store: App distribution and In-App Purchase processing. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that your information remains protected.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending you an email notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
